Our Story

The idea that led to Optimum Squared took root, when our founder, Albert, was working on a large-scale transformation project for a blue-chip firm. He realised that performance management is too process focused and sometimes neglects the humans that drive the results.

He became increasingly fascinated by what separated ‘high performers’ from everyone else. In seeking out the answer to this question, he came to a few realisations:

  • Performance is difficult to sustain: Most people typically slip in and out of being classed as high performers from year to year.

  • Performance can come at a steep cost: Those who can sustain high performance often find that it comes at the cost of health and relationships.

  • High performers are made not born: With the right guidance and support anyone can learn to sustain high performance across all aspects of their life.

These realisations confirmed something he had always believed - Performance management shouldn’t be about squeezing the most out of individual high-performers, it should be about building environments that create them.

With this insight, he set out to do things differently; by creating an approach which nurtures people to become high performers rather than squeezing results out of them.

Our Approach

Research-backed, people-focused performance optimisation

“Flow is an optimal state of consciousness where we feel and perform our best. More specifically, the term refers to those moments of total absorption, when an individual becomes so focused on what they’re doing that everything else just disappears, and all aspects of performance are significantly amplified.” - Flow Research Collective

Rooted in flow research and extensive industry experience, our approach looks at performance holistically. By learning to understand the factors that contribute to success at the individual level, we can create performance systems that nurture both growth and high performance. The benefits of this approach include enhanced morale, increased productivity, and a sustainable framework for achieving peak performance. Whether you’re on a personal performance journey or are overseeing a corporate performance transformation, this approach has been proven successful time after time.
